Summary of YouGov/Qatar Foundation poll on Syria commissioned for the Doha Debates:
55% of Syrian respondents do not believe President Assad should resign
Whereas the vast majority of respondents across the region – 81% - want President Assad to resign.
46% of total respondents want President Assad to remain in power to precent Syria becoming another Iraq
32% of respondents from the Levant region believe that President Assad is the best president for Syria (the figure for Syria alone is not given)
Half of total respondents (50%) think that the protests [in Syria] are part of a conspiracy by the US and the West
54% of total respondents believe the protests in Syria are by the Syrian people in line with the 'Arab Spring' movement
64% of total respondents believe that the protests represent the view of the majority of Syrians
36% of total respondents think that the news they see and her about the

67% of GCC respondents and 66% of North African respondents approve of the Arab League's decision to impose sanctions on Syria
In the Levant, 54% of respondents do not approve of Arab League sanctions, with 68% of Syrians not approving the imposition of AL sanctions
52% of total respondents appear to support Arab League sanctions as they were 'hopeful' they would bring down President Assad (46% of respondents felt sanctions will bring more chaos to Syria)
55% of total respondents believed that imposing sanctions was the right thing to do to help the Syrian people
52%of total respondents felt that the Arab League exhibited double standards by being tolerant with Israel to settle its dispute, but not allowing Syria enough time to solve its own issues
Prior to recent events in Syria, 46% of Syrians saw President Assad as 'good' president

In the Levant region, 61% of respondents thought President Assad was a good or average president for Syria
