Summary of YouGov/Qatar Foundation poll on Syria commissioned for the Doha Debates:

55% of Syrian respondents do not believe President Assad should resign

Whereas the vast majority of respondents across the region – 81% - want President Assad to resign.

46% of total respondents want President Assad to remain in power to precent Syria becoming another Iraq


32% of respondents from the Levant region believe that President Assad is the best president for Syria (the figure for Syria alone is not given)

Half of total respondents (50%) think that the protests [in Syria] are part of a conspiracy by the US and the West

54% of total respondents believe the protests in Syria are by the Syrian people in line with the 'Arab Spring' movement

64% of total respondents believe that the protests represent the view of the majority of Syrians
